Contact adhesive for laminates, timber, plastics and metals

Woodstikk® HP Contact Adhesive is a brushable contact adhesive for internal and external bonding work where fast initial grab, good heat resistance and a long open time are useful. It is especially suited to bonding decorative laminates to wood composites, and is also suitable for all grades of timber, most plastics, hard furnishings, cotton-backed vinyl and most metals. Used in shop fitting, kitchen fitting and general repair applications, Woodstikk® HP gives high initial bond strength so joined substrates can be handled immediately after bonding. The open tack time of 5–20 minutes helps give installers flexibility when positioning large panels, laminates and other sheet materials.

Preparation and application

Ensure both surfaces are smooth, clean and free from dust or other deposits. Precondition the surfaces and adhesive to 15–20°C before use. Stir Woodstikk® HP Contact Adhesive before application, then apply a thin, even coat to both substrates using a short stiff brush or spreader. Bring the substrates together under maximum pressure as soon as the adhesive becomes touch dry, when the surface is glossy and no longer transfers to the knuckles. For laminates, nip-roll or platen-press where possible. Where that is not possible, use a hard roller and apply firm pressure across the full working surface, paying close attention to seams and edges.

Limitations

Woodstikk® HP Contact Adhesive is not recommended for plasticised vinyls, flexible plastics, expanded or extruded polystyrene, PE or PP. Because materials and production conditions vary, test the adhesive under production and end-use conditions before commercial adoption.
