Delivered ready for use (no dilution needed) and must not be blended with other adhesives.
Apply using a double roller or spray gun (low-pressure spray gun recommended at approx. 1.5–2.5 bar) to one or both parts.
Airing time: none.
Open time: approx. 25 minutes (one-component application).
For spray processes, it can also be used with compatible booster options (D 3436 / D 3438) in spray-mix application, where the open time is approx. 10 minutes (contact bonding) depending on conditions.
Consumption: approx. 50–90 g/m² (application-dependent).
Storage: +5 °C to +30 °C, frost-sensitive; max. 6 months unopened at +20 °C.
It’s not a craft-style “fabric glue” for hems or washable textile-only repairs. It’s a professional upholstery adhesive intended for contact-bonding upholstery foam with upholstery fabrics (and other absorbent materials), where you need fast grab and a flexible bond.
Yes—WAKOL D 3442 can be applied with a spray gun (a low-pressure spray gun is recommended at approx. 1.5–2.5 bar), making it suitable when people are searching for spray adhesive for foam / foam adhesive / foam glue use cases in upholstery work.
Yes. The TDS describes it as a water-based adhesive and a solvent-free contact-adhesive.
It’s specified for contact-bonding upholstery foam to itself and to upholstery fabrics, leather, wood, hard fibre, paperboard, fleece and other absorbent materials.
Yes—foam-to-foam bonding is explicitly within the stated area of application (“upholstery foam with itself”).
For the listed application methods in the TDS, airing time is stated as none (both standard and spray-mix).
No—per the TDS it’s ready for use, no dilution is necessary for normal use, and the adhesive must not be blended with other adhesives.
No. Super glue (cyanoacrylate) is a different adhesive type and typically cures to a more rigid bond. WAKOL D 3442 is a water based, solvent free contact adhesive designed to leave a flexible film and provide green strength for foam bonding—so it’s aimed at upholstery workflows rather than rigid instant-bond spot repairs.
Epoxy is a different system (often chosen for rigid, gap-filling structural bonds). WAKOL D 3442 is specified for contact-bonding upholstery foam and related absorbent materials, prioritising fast green strength and flexibility—so it’s not positioned as an epoxy replacement for structural jobs.
Tape can be useful for temporary positioning or non-structural holds, but for foam to foam glue and foam-to-fabric bonding you typically need an adhesive designed for contact bonding and green strength—this product is explicitly intended for that category of work.
Wood glues are usually optimised for wood-to-wood joints and clamping, while WAKOL D 3442 is specified for contact-bonding upholstery foam to materials including wood—with a flexible, fast-grab film and green strength aimed at upholstery assembly.
The TDS states bonding surfaces should be free of dirt, dust and grease, and it also notes cleaning guidance (water when fresh; specified solvent after drying; avoid agents that interfere with adhesion like silicones/oils).
The TDS warns not to inhale spray mist and recommends appropriate extraction and PPE (breathing mask) if needed.
